Ajit B Pai, M.D., appointed Chief Medical Officer to lead strategic effort to transform service offerings for Veterans

Gritter Francona, a leading Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and recent awardee of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) Integrated Healthcare Transformation (IHT) 2.0 contract, today announced the appointment of Ajit B Pai, M.D. as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Gritter Francona and its joint venture, Greenside Solutions.
Dr. Pai’s appointment comes at a pivotal moment as Gritter Francona expands its role supporting VA health modernization initiatives. As CMO, Dr. Pai will spearhead Gritter Francona and Greenside Solutions’ efforts to integrate new technologies and innovative practices to transform the services provided and outcomes achieved for the Veteran community.
Dr. Pai joins Gritter Francona after more than 15 years of service with VA, most recently serving as Executive Director for the Office of Rehabilitation and Prosthetics Services within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). In that role, he led policy and planning for rehabilitative clinical care, oversaw VHA’s durable medical equipment supply chain, and supported VA’s adaptive sports and arts programs.
Previously, Dr. Pai led geriatric and rehabilitation care across VHA’s Northern California and Pacific regions, held leadership responsibilities in clinical informatics for VA’s Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) efforts and served as Service Chief and Medical Director at one of the VA’s five national centers of excellence that delivered care to Veterans and Active Duty personnel with traumatic brain and polytrauma injuries.

Dr. Pai earned his medical degree from Drexel University, completed his Internship in Internal Medicine, Residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Fellowship in Spinal Cord Injury Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University, and holds a BA in Biology from Rutgers University.
